The Value Village Difference
Value Village is no ordinary thrift store. As a leader and pioneer in the retail thrift industry, we're a place where people from all backgrounds love to shop for great selection, deals and treasures. But there's also a higher purpose for what we do.

Value Village was founded in 1954 on principles such as giving back and providing opportunities--core values we still embrace today. Our more than 140 nonprofit alliances share this thinking and inspire us with their work. Partnering with local charities is not a byproduct of our business--it's how we do business. So when you shop at Savers, you help support many local community programs.

Another key difference is the relationship we have with our customers. We're constantly reinventing ourselves into what they tell us is important. Unlike other large retailers, we're a privately operated chain and take pride in getting to know the people who shop with us--often times on a first-name basis. There's nothing we love more than hearing their stories on "art of thrifting."

In our 56-year history, shoppers have come to expect fun and surprise with each visit to our stores. We make it easy to find bargains on every aisle and our stores are filled with current looks, authentic vintage finds, housewares, collectibles, furniture and unexpected treasures at every turn. Our nonprofit alliances drop off thousands of items every day so no two shopping trips are ever the same. Our incredible inventory comprises unique, quality used goods as well as new merchandise, including closeouts on great items not found at other thrift stores.

Produits et services

When we reuse and recycle responsibly, the people and the planet benefit in exponential ways. We call it The Savers Cycle, and it’s how we’ve done business for more than 55 years. Our for-profit company partners with local nonprofit agencies to make sure the funds stay local. Here’s how it works.

Our nonprofit alliances contact people in the community to ask for donations of reusable clothing and household items. We pay our nonprofit alliances based on the number of boxes and bags of merchandise they’ve collected from you and then deliver to us. In the same way, we also pay our nonprofit alliances every time you donate gently used goods directly at our stores via Community Donation Centers.

All donations get sorted by our store teams and only the highest-quality reusable items are value-priced and merchandised according to department, style, size and color. After that, the items are ready to sell.

The majority of items that don’t sell are shipped to developing nations through both wholesale and philanthropic efforts. Individuals in developing countries can then create their own marketplaces that service citizens who rely on affordable, quality merchandise.
